Ask the experts offers a variety of forums that enable students to ask career and/or specialty related questions and have them answered by the experts in their fields. These forums are offered at different times and may either involve communication by way of email or by live chat. All sessions regardless of the media source provide prompt, efficient, and confidential responses. Questions which may be particularly helpful to others, or are commonly asked, will be posted below to the "Previously Asked Questions" board. All indentifiers are removed prior to posting.

Individuals seeking information regarding their career decisions processes are always invited to visit our UTHSC Careers in Medicine, Department Contacts page for contact information as well as a variety of other specialty related resources.

No Ask the Experts panel sessions are being offered at this time. Please visit the Department Contacts page for additional information regarding specialty choices.

Sample Question

Topic: Obstetrics & Gynecology

Question: How much experience should I have from labor and delivery before i begin my inerviews for Ob/Gyn? I did Ob at the beginning of my third year and didn't perform very many deliveries. I worry that will affect me when interviewing for an Ob/Gyn residency. Any suggestions?

Answer: You can always volunteer for some call nights a s a refresher-late in the academic year or over the holidays, or during the intercessions of all good times. In general, having done the rotation once is generally sufficient. Interview questions are generally far more general.
