The Dean's Faculty Advisory Committee

Welcome to the Homepage of the Dean's Faculty Advisory Committee

It is my privilege to serve as President of the Dean's Faculty Advisory Committee for 2008-09, having served as a representative on DFAC since 2004. I am a molecular biologist by training, with a focus on experimental cancer therapeutics. I joined the UT faculty in 1988 as a member of the Department of Pharmacology, with current membership in the UT Center for Cancer Research, and Director of the Center for Anticancer Drug Research. In the 20 years I have been here, UT has been confronted with many challenges in fulfilling its mission of research, education, and clinical service. As the principal executors of this mission, it is incumbent upon all faculty members of the College of Medicine to respond constructively to these challenges. Consequently, The purpose of DFAC is to represent the faculty of the College of Medicine to the Dean, to act as an advocate of the interests and goals of the faculty and to act as a bidirectional conduit of information and opinion. We can accomplish this only with your active participation by bringing to our attention issues of importance to you. This is more than an opportunity, it is an obligation. In return, we members of DFAC will work to the best of our abilities to fulfill our mission.
